Halloween horror nights 22. My thoughts

My thoughts on Halloween horror nights 22 is very different thing about Halloween horror nights 22 brings me back to Halloween horror nights 21 Hollywood 21. Your luck has run out, Lady luck. It was an okay character, not a best characters they made by the character just there. That's how I remember it. It was the character that just wouldn't die kind of marketing decided to use lady walked. And so they use lady luck that the plastic masks in our scare zone were just so crazy knowing what to expect this year, and Halloween horror nights 22 is very, very, very different. That is true. We'll know what's going on yet, but the speculations of a Victorian mansion. There is a speculation of dead silence coming back out. There is a lot of questions on what's going on, while we will learn that on  August 30, 2012. Until next time take care

Halloween horror nights 22 update

Hello ladies and gentlemen this is how Woodward writes update for August 25, 2012. There are no lights in New York Central Park, and it looks like purple lights on New York. sting Ally For more information on Halloween horror nights 22. Stay tuned as more information does come available

I strongly believe that Bloody Mary was the best icon halloween horror nights

I strongly believe that Bloody Mary was the best icon so far in terms of marketability AND use at the event itself. The commercials and website were awesome, and while most people hated the house, I really enjoyed it, especially being able to see the story arc from the website come full circle. Regardless of how people felt about the house, her presence throughout the event was palpable. I'll never forget walking through the hanging pumpkins and hearing her name whispered three times, followed by all of the pumpkins going dark.

If Universal wants to continue using icons, I think that they really need to follow this framework. Pick an icon who will have a strong central story for the fans, but also make sense for the masses that don't spend hours on the website. Also, having an icon that was tied to a casino theme with no casino house was a strange choice. Same with Fear from last year. If you're going to spend that much time, effort, and money creating an icon, then give it a dedicated house, or at least have it appear in the other houses to tie things together!

EDIT: By the way, I would love to see UO take a few notes from the new kids on the block when it comes to HHN. From the pictures that I saw, HHN at Universal Studios Singapore looked AWESOME!! If you haven't already seen some pictures, then go check them out. The detail in the apocalypse-themed scarezone was incredible!! Now I know that the event was done on a much smaller scale over there than it is here, but I have felt like our scarezones have been dropping in quality recently. It always feels like there are one, maybe two, great zones, with the rest being way under-par for what this event has become. My $0.02.

RUN House Treatment the real maze

RUN House Treatment

Universal Studios Halloween Horror Nights presents the most extreme Haunted maze in its ten-year history. As our Guest Contestant, you will be thrown into an environment that has no rhyme or reason, only the most diabolical combination of unsettling imagery and dark, winding corridors. Your challenge is simple: Get out as quickly as you can. Through chain-link barricades and padded walls, you must make choices to survive. Think you know the way out? Good Luck. Remember to keep moving. Don’t stop, not even to Scream!

OVERALL TECHNICAL APPROACH: Lighting should be designed to create confusion and chaos. Audio is a cacophony of high end disturbing sounds. All of the interior of the Exterior walls for this run will be mirrored to help create visual disorientation and scale

EXTERIOR: - ENTRYWAY
Welcome to the future of entertainment as Game Show meets Gladiator spectacle. The only difference is that there is no score and the prize is that you’ve survived.  You ramp upward on wooden scaffolding into the experience, hearing the chaotic sounds of terror filling the air. A crude sign built from the used and abandoned parts of junk spells out the name of this twisted game: RUN. Christmas lights combined with Tivoli chase lights create a weird and surreal advertisement and entry statement.

SCENE: 1 – LET THE GAMES BEGIN
As you enter the dark cave-like structure, you are met with the sight of a rusted metal archway. Lights surround the word “RUN”. As you move underneath the archway, a gaunt GAME SHOW HOST slams a steel door shut behind you triggering a blinding green light. A loud air-horn shrieks the beginning of the game followed by an ominous voice that screams a single command at you. “RUN!!!!!!”

SCENE: 2 - FIRST QUARTER
We move into the darkness of a claustrophobic cave.  Our presence triggers sirens and beacon lights. Disoriented by the blinding flash and the shriek of the siren, we struggle forward.

We move cautiously into the disturbing darkness of the hellish environment, not knowing what to expect. Padded pieces of dirty mattress cover the walls.

From unseen openings throughout the space, Maniacal FREAKS hurl themselves towards us.

One of the freaks is chained to the floor. He hurls a piece of broken chain towards our group, smashing into a discarded aluminum barrel.

Another chases us through the twisting space with the remains of a bloody, disemboweled torso.

The exterior walls are lined with mirrors, giving the disorienting illusion of depth. Along the floor, lining our path, are the remains of crushed bones.

SCENE: 3 - THE BASEMENT
We continue forward, ramping down, into the chaos. We move forward into the remains of a rotted wooden porch. Broken latticework surrounds us on each side as we continue downward. Without warning, hideous appendages thrust from underneath the porch, grasping at us.

Moving quickly away from the attack, we come face to face with a GIANT JUNKYARD DOG. The furry beast lunges at us, snarling, chasing us from the room.

SCENE: 4 - DE-COMPOST HEAP
A maniacal GATEKEEPER corrals us into one of two tunnels of chain link. The lights continue to assault

We move further into the madness of the maze and are confronted by the grisly sight of several decomposing bodies wrapped in bloody gauze. Stepping out across grated steel floor, We hear the sound of buzzing flies, as mono-filament creates the illusion of the insects. We smell the sickly sweet stench of rotting flesh. The decomposing bodies ooze a greenish fluid that covers the bandages. The bodies are covered with methycyl creating the tactile illusion of decomposing flesh. Winding through the grisly hanging barriers, the disgusting feel of warm water drips down upon us.

SCENE: 5 - NAILED
We enter a corridor of makeshift wood barricades. 2 x 4 planks are haphazardly placed at odd angles creating weird wood structures above us. More padded pieces of mattress cover the walls.

We hear the sound of a pneumatic nail-gun. We turn the corner and find a rotund CARPENTER. He is nailing boards up, creating a barricade. As we cautiously move past the intimidating woodsman, he turns, pointing his nail gun at us. His face is riddled with nails, the tips protruding from his flesh. He fires. We feel the air of the powerful tool, followed by the feel of something wet on our skin. Did we actually just get nailed? The Rotund madman forces us deeper into the darkness, yelling after us to “keep running!”

SCENE: 6 - BATTER UP!
The intensity builds as we move past a batting cage. A baseball-pitching machine spits out bloodied baseballs, lobbing the hard implements towards us. They come within inches of us, stopped only  by the metal of the cage.

SCENE: 7 - TWO CHAINSAWS ARE BETTER THAN ONE
We rush through the twisting cavern, the pathway forcing us from right to left. As we move through the chaotic maze, we find what remains of several bodies. These decapitated torsos fill the ceiling and floors. Bursting from the wall of bloody torsos and intestines is a huge GAMESKEEPER. He triggers a blinding strobe. The muscular monster towers above us brandishing two small chainsaws, one in each hand.  He roars at us, swinging wildly as we race forward.

SCENE: 8 – HOME RUN
Hanging panels of fabric obstruct our path. We are forced to move them aside as we come face to face with a panel of fence. Suddenly two mutated FREAKS jumps out, brandishing a baseball bat. He swings wildly, smashing against the chain link. The barrage of violence continues as we rush forward. Turning right we think we find safety only to find a ripped open portion of chain-link fence. One of the Freaks bounds into our space chasing us with his bat.

SCENE: 9  - SHOCK TREATMENT
We move through a confined area of more chain-link fence. To our right, a CRAZY CONTESTANT maniacally runs an electrical cable across the fence, sending a shower of sparks towards us. We cower away from the lunatic when another CRAZY jumps up from the other side. Through a hole in the chain link, he shoves a cable towards us, making contact. The vibrating wand tip simulates the coursing electricity chasing us from the space.

SCENE: 10 - THE RUNWAY
We are forced into a long winding corridor filled with doors of every shape and size. Hanging above us, suspended from the darkness are bloody mannequins. We move through the hallway as freakish MANGLERS, adrenaline-charged game masters attack us at every opportunity. They blast at us with hand held air nozzles.  They have the ability to appear behind several different doors on each side, increasing the scare potential.

(NOTE: The back of the actor space is line with mirror to help create disorientation)

SCENE: 11 - GET OUT!
We turn a corner, and see another winding corridor stretching out before us. Above us is a series of red Christmas tree lights that line the upper wall, and cast an eerie glow into the chamber. A fog blast fills the area as we try to make our way through. The walls are covered with wet, latex strips simulating the stripped skins of victims.

As we move through we feel intense heat from an unseen source. Out of nowhere, a large MANIAC jumps towards us. The masked psycho thrusts his bloody chainsaw towards us. The chainsaw is enormous, the blade twice the normal size and covered with chunks of shredded flesh. He chases our group forward and out of the tunnel.  As more contestants/victims enter the area, they are wary of the attack, only to be startled as another MANIAC enters to chase them from the opposite side.

We exit the Tunnel, bursting through sheets of wet fabric and torn clothing, surviving the madness, but will we ever be the same?

Meet real-life ghost hunters at Halloween Horror Nights halloween horror nights 20 news

Meet real-life ghost hunters at Halloween Horror Nights

“Ghost Hunters” has become one of the highest rated reality shows on SyFy Channel. You can meet a few of the stars!

Two real-life paranormal researchers will be at Universal Thursday, Oct. 7 for an autograph session. Steve Gonsalves and Dave Tango will sign autographs at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. in Battery Park, right across from Mel’s Drive-In.

Gonsalves is the TAPS (The Atlantic Paranormal Society) technology manager and evidence analyst. It is his responsibility to train all TAPS members on how to use the team's wide range of high-tech equipment.

Just so you know, TAPS is a group of fairly ordinary people -- office managers, factory workers, teachers and even psychic hotline gurus. They’re a part of this group because they want to understand more about the afterlife.

Gonsalves has also been a public speaker and educator about paranormal phenomena for more than 10 years.

Tango has been with the team for the past several years. He’s an investigator and evidence analyst. He co-hosts Ghost Hunters Academy with Gonsalves as they search for the next, top-notch paranormal investigator.

Tango also likes to perform magic shows, and has a fond interest in illusions.

If you can’t make it out to HHN to meet the duo, we’ve got you covered! We caught up with them Thursday. Just watch our interview in the video attached to this page. For our extended conversation, go to Ch. 300, Central Florida on Demand, Your Local Entertainment Channel. Click on Halloween and then Haunted Florida.

Central Florida on Demand is available only on Bright House Digital Cable.

A Vermont couple will be married Friday during Universal’s Halloween Horror Nights.

April Richardson, a graphic designer, and Adam Cochran, a pharmacist, were the winners of a contest that will allow them to be married on the steps of one of the theme park’s haunted houses (Legendary Truth: Wyandot Estate), flanked by a few ghoulish guests. The prize, valued at more than $11,000, includes park tickets, hotel stays and other perks.

The couple met while students at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill six years ago. They consider themselves lifelong fans of Halloween and throw annual parties and scavenger hunts.

The contest was designed to tout Universal’s wedding packages. For more information, go to www.UniversalOrlandoWeddings.com.

Halloween horror Nights Just Got Scarier

How Orlando's Universal Resort Just Got Scarier

By Stephen M. Silverman

How Orlando's Universal Resort Just Got Scarier

Scare-actors at Universal Orlando Resort's "Horror Nights: The Hollowed Past"

Dracula and Frankenstein, move over. And take the Wolfman with you.

That unholy trio, made famous by Universal Studios in the 1930s and '40s, no longer scare up the screams they used to, which may explain why the Universal Studios theme park in Orlando has some other cool ghouls up its sleeve. Fiendish. Demonic. And, for those with a taste for true blood, wildly popular.

On special nights during the month, the park is being turned upside down for an after-hours event that calls for 1,000 scare-actors (pronounced "scharacters") to go bump in the night and frighten visitors to the Universal Orlando Resort's 20th annual Halloween Horror Nights, featuring eight walk-through haunted houses and six "scarezones," as well as two live shows. Make that, undead shows.

A word of warning: The houses are realistic and scary. Especially one aptly named "Hades."

Not for Kids
"We want to get the message across that these are PG-13-rated experiences," a Universal Resort rep told PEOPLE, suggesting, wisely, that the attractions may not be for the young – or the squeamish.

"Some of our houses are so intense, people have serious reactions, we don’t want little kids at our event," said Universal Orlando Resort show director Patrick Braillard. Likening the detail work on the attractions to "film quality," Jim Timon, senior vice president of entertainment, adds: "We could literally make our own new movies from these characters. The lighting, the special effects, the visuals – we do everything we can to suspend your disbelief and take away your illusion of control."

The main attractions are the haunted houses within the soundstages and storage facilities of the theme park, and the lines to get inside them are often as long as those for the venue's signature roller coasters. (The Universal Orlando Resort actually consists of two separate theme parks: Universal Studios Florida, home to Halloween Nights, and Universal's Islands of Adventure, where the Wizarding World of Harry Potter has been packing them in since it opened June 18.)

The "Hades: The Gates of Ruin" haunted house takes the visitor into the underworld, with demons literally popping out of the woodwork – the good news is, the scharacters are not allowed to touch the tourists – while "Horror Nights: The Hallowed Past" packs its wallop by dredging up spooky old legends of the past and present, seemingly inspired by Edgar Allen Poe and Stephen King, to say nothing of blood-curdling movies featuring vampires, ghosts and chainsaw-wielding phantoms.

Besides chilling sound effects and lighting, every house also carries a backstory: "PsychoScareapy: Echoes of Shadybrook," for instance, takes you into the Shadybrook Sanitarium 15 years after the inmates have taken over the asylum.

Halloween Rampage
"They're figuring out new ways to scare the daylights out of you," David Mandt, spokesman for the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, tells the Associated Press in regard to the big business of special Halloween attractions across the country – from California's Knott's Berry Farm, to Virginia's Busch Gardens Williamsburg, even Philadelphia's Eastern State Penitentiary.

For the sake of being bicoastal, Universal Studios Hollywood also has its own high-profile Horror Nights.

Not that everyone needs to be frightened out of their skin. Those preferring their hobgoblins on the friendlier side need only visit Orlando's Walt Disney's World Magic Kingdom, for Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, complete with decorations, fireworks and a parade.

And if you have to ask who Mickey is, that's scary.

Preview: Halloween Horror Nights 2010 scare zones, initial thoughts, and plenty of nostalgia

Last night I attended Universal Orlando’s Halloween Horror Nights 2010 employee preview (as a guest). Dubbed an “Advance Screaming,” Universal uses this preview night to test out their haunted houses, scare zones, and shows on a large scale audience full of their own employees (team members) before the event grand opens to the public this Friday, Sept. 24.

During the three-and-a-half hour sneak peek of the twentieth year of Halloween Horror Nights, I explored this year’s 6 all-new scare zones and 5 of the 8 haunted houses. I’ll hold my complete event report and review until after opening night, as this preview is a technical rehearsal, both for special effects and for the actors, so not everything I saw was exactly as it should be. But given that, I can still safely say that Halloween Horror Nights 20 has turned out to be one of the best years in the event’s recent history.

It seemed to me that the scare zones were all well-rehearsed and mostly ready to go, so I bring to you a video summary of all six, spending the most time focusing on the icons presented in the “HHN: 20 Years of Fear” and “Fear Revealed” zones:

This year’s event is largely about its own history. Its icon, Fear, is the master of five Horror Nights icons from the past. Two scare zones and a full haunted house are devoted to bringing back fan favorites from previous years of the event. And there was plenty of nostalgia to be found. Within the Hallow’d Past house, it was as if the designers had read my mind as to which haunted house scenes and characters I wanted to see return -- nearly all of them were all back.

I found it wonderful to see Jack the Clown, the Director, and other characters stopping to pose for pictures this year. These icons have been brought back because fans have fond memories of visiting Halloween Horror Nights during their years and getting a picture with them now is the ultimate keepsake.

HHN: 20 Years of Fear scare zone

Jack the Clown in HHN: 20 Years of Fear scare zone

The Usher in HHN: 20 Years of Fear scare zone

The Director in HHN: 20 Years of Fear scare zone

Jack's partner in HHN: 20 Years of Fear scare zone

The Fear Revealed “scare zone” (more of a small street show than a scare zone) was the only place I actually saw Fear himself. His presence was massive and impressive in that street zone, but I wanted him to actually scare me, not just stare at me. Perhaps I’ll receive more fear from Fear on Friday. But his minions are a nice touch, worshipping the ground he walks on, complete with glowing faces.

Fear and his minions

Beyond the nostalgic areas, Halloween Horror Nights XX is full of plenty of exciting new ideas for haunted house visuals, the likes of which I have never experienced before. Out of the five houses I visited tonight, I rank Legendary Truth the highest in originality and technical achievement and Catacombs the highest in scare factor. But I haven’t been through Havoc, Hades, or Zombiegeddon yet, nor have I experienced any of the houses in their ready-for-primetime form, so further review will come in a couple days.

But Saws n’ Steam was easily my favorite scare zone (for now), not only because I heard strains of a Nine Inch Nails song playing in the background, but also because it is somewhat of a small haunted house unto itself. Scenes play out, costumes are elaborate, and the ever-popular chainsaw gang is back and better than ever. But beware, you may find yourself bumping into others in the dense fog and this steamy world is not without a few gushing pipes as well.

Saws & Steam scare zone

Following closely behind is Zombie Gras, a turned-on-its-head version of Universal’s annual Mardi Gras parade in which one of their parade floats has crashed and its performers are all now zombified and after your flesh. The actors in this area were some of the best I saw all night, melding their smooth Mardi Gras-style body movements with the jerky, spastic movements of a brain-seeking zombie.

Zombie Gras scare zone

Zombie Gras scare zone

And every so often, in true Mardi Gras form, the zombies in the street run up to the crashed parade float yelling for beads to be thrown to them. Another nice touch.

For a complete report from Halloween Horror Nights 2010, including all haunted houses, scare zones, and shows, return here after it officially launches on September 24. And throughout opening night, follow @insidethemagic on Twitter and/or on Facebook for live updates.
